Original oil painting by Liz Vaughn. "A White Buffalo in the Dragoons". I should start by saying creating this piece was full of wonderment and pure joy. A dear friend had gifted me this canvas, which was rooted in college days at an art school. A painting that had never been finished, but had so much life and potential. The friend gave me permission to paint over and and all of the previous painting. And then it sat in my studio for about 4 years before I felt inspired to work with it.
Once I started painting, my eyes could hardly believe how the shapes, colors and various painting mediums were working together and creating such a lovely harmony. When we allow ourselves the freedom of exploration without expectation of a particular outcome, beautiful narratives are created. I am so grateful to have witnessed and have been a part of this new life.
I only took one photograph during the process, which was my sketch over the initial painting - featured in the 4th photo here.
