Original oil painting by Liz Vaughn. "The Enchantress" is a blend of both abstract and figurative. I have been spending a lot of time in the studio working on abstract pieces, loving the unexpected outcomes and freedom of movement. That being said, I was stumped on a large abstract piece and needed to break that artistic block, so I threw in some loose line work in a figurative way. I started with charcoal and chalk pastel, then added some colored ink wash. Ink is fun in a very unpredictable way, one never knows where the ink might pool or run, making for random and beautiful marks.
The end result is a lovely, bright and enigmatic figure that is sure to live up to her name.
