Original oil painting by Liz Vaughn. "Holding The Shape of Light" is a delicate marriage of abstract and figurative. I have been spending a lot of time in the studio working on abstract pieces, which has led to more experimentation within my figurative work, I love the freedom of movement, blurring of lines, and unexpected beautiful outcomes. For this piece I started with a large block of bright yellow ink in the upper right corner, and let it flow down the canvas creating some beautiful drip marks. I was hesitant to "ruin" that beautiful yellow, but it evolved slowly and gracefully to the compilation you see now. I love the dual face, the transparent hand on each of the figures, and especially that pink!
