Original oil painting by Liz Vaughn, "Noir Series". To be truthful, the Noir Series was created in a moment of frustration when I blacked out most of an abstract painting that I was working on. When I came back to the painting, there was an area that was smudged with oil paint and it just seemed interesting. Sometimes, you just have to go with an idea even if you don't know where it will end up! Thankfully it turned out and gave me a new direction to explore. I scratched in to the black paint, revealing the colorful underlayers to create the stem and leaf on the flower. The second is for scale, and depicts the two smaller pieces in the Noir collection.
